FIBArk Running Races

TRIPLE CROWN • $50

Compete in all three of the FIBArk running races and contend for the Triple Crown title. The male and female competitor with the best combined time for all three events wins. Triple Crown competitors must run the 10K on Saturday.

HILL CLIMB • $5
Thursday, June 15
4:00-5:45 pm registration, 6:00 pm start
Start and Finish on First and F Streets in front of Salida Mountain Sports

This one-of-a-kind race is a signature kick-off to FIBArk events. Beginning at the intersection of F Street and Sackett Avenue participants will run and scramble straight up Tenderfoot (aka “S” Mountain) and back down. Believe it or not, the winners do it in less than 12 minutes! Prizes go to the top three male and female competitors, middle of the pack and oldest runner. ALL participants qualify for bragging rights!

Click here to see results dating back to 1974 for the FIBArk Hill Climb. A big thank you goes to Donna Rhoads for compiling this information. We have included the women’s results as far back as we can find them and will continue to update this document if we do find more results.

5k & 10K ROAD RACES • $35
Saturday, June 17
6:45-7:45 am registration, 8:00 am start
Start and finish at Nuno Park, Corner of Pitkin and W. Park Avenues (just one block from Thonoff Park)

Participate in the FIBArk road races Saturday morning and have all day to enjoy other FIBArk events!  These two courses are on scenic county roads, starting and finishing on the mesa near the County Courthouse.  Awards will be given to the top three male and female competitors, as well as the top three male and female athletes in each age category.  For 2017 we have changed the location of the start and finish to Nuno Park.  Ride the Rockies will also be in town that day and will be finishing their last leg of the 447 mile ride from Gunnison to Salida at Thonoff Park.

We will also host a FREE, untimed 1 mile kids fun run at approximately 8:30am at Nuno Park.  Participants do not need to fill out a registration form (parents need to complete a City of Salida Recreation waiver) – just show up!

10K TRAIL RUN • $35
Sunday, June 18
6:45-7:45 am registration, 8:00 am start
Start and finish at the F Street Bridge

Join Salida Recreation on the last day of FIBArk for this fun and challenging race.  The 10K trail run will take you behind Tenderfoot Mountain on the Arkansas Hills Trail System. The terrain is varied and includes dirt road and single track.  The trail run is also the finale of the Triple Crown Competition. Awards are given to the top three male and female finishers.

The 10K Trail Run is the same as the 2016 Expert/Single Speed Mountain Bike Course. The Expert and Sport Mountain Bike Courses for 2017 have changed (see below). We will not enforce a time cut off, but please be aware you will be sharing the course with mountain bikers if you take longer than 2 hours to finish the race.  Therefore, this is not an ideal race for participants who plan to walk the majority of the course.
