FIBArk 2012 – Running and Mountain Bike Races

Race dates for FIBArk 2012 are

Thursday, June 14 (Tenderfoot Mountain Hill Climb)
Saturday, June 16 (5k and 10k Road Races)
Sunday, June 17 (10k Trail Run and Mountain Bike Race)

Register early and save money! ALL pre-registrations must be
completed by noon on 6/13 (on-line, in person at the pool, or through the mail.) On-site registrations will be charged an additional $5 perevent or $5 for the Triple Crown.

Registration: Salida Recreation personnel encourage all racers to register early! On-line registration will be available shortly at EventBrite. Registration forms are available now at the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center or to download at this website or at www.fibark.net. Day of registration closes 15 minutes before each race begins. Call 719-539-5703 or email salidaraces@gmail.com for more information. Maps are available at the Aquatic Center for those wanting to do some pre-event reconnaissance.

FIBArk Running Races

Triple Crown • $50
Compete in all three of the FIBArk running races and contend for the Triple Crown title. The male and female competitor with the best combined time for all three events wins. Triple Crown competitors must run the 10K on Saturday. Register Online at Eventbrite.

HILL CLIMB • $5
Thursday, June 14
4:00-5:45 pm registration, 6:00 pm start
Start and Finish at 1st and F Streets
This one-of-a-kind race is a signature kick-off to FIBArk events. Beginning at the stop light at 1st and F streets, participants will run and scramble straight up Tenderfoot (aka “S” Mountain) and back down. Believe it or not, the winners do it in less than 12 minutes! Prizes go to the top three male and female competitors, middle of the pack and oldest runner. ALL participants qualify for bragging rights! Register Online at Eventbrite.

5K & 10K ROAD RACES • $25
Saturday, June 16
6:45-7:45 am registration, 8:00 am start
Start and finish at Thonhoff Park.
Participate in the FIBArk road races Saturday morning and have all day to enjoy other FIBArk events! These two courses are on county roads, starting and finishing on the mesa near the County Courthouse. Awards will be given to the top three male and female competitors, as well as the top three male and female athletes in each age category. Register Online at Eventbrite.

We will also host a FREE, untimed 1 mile kids fun run at approximately 8:30am at Thonhoff Park. Participants do not need to fill out a registration form (parents need to complete a City of Salida Recreation waiver) – just show up!

10K TRAIL RUN • $25
Sunday, June 17
6:45-7:45 am registration, 8:00 am start
Start and finish at the F Street Bridge
Join Salida Recreation on the last day of FIBArk for this fun and challenging race. The 10K trail run will take you behind Tenderfoot Mountain on the new Arkansas Hills Trail System. The terrain is varied and sure to keep you on your toes. The trail run is also the finale of the Triple Crown Competition. Awards will be given to the top three male and female finishers. ARKANSAS HILLS MOUNTAIN BIKE RACE • $25 (Adults) • $10 (Kids)

Sunday, June 17
9:00-9:45am registration, 10:00am start

Start and finish at the F Street Bridge

Join us for this great new addition to the FIBArk line-up! Registration categories include Single Speed, Cat 1 (Expert/Semi Pro), Cat 2 (Sport), Cat 3 (Beginner) and Kids (ages 16 and under). All races will take place on the Arkansas Hills Trail System; course length and difficulty is dependent on race category. Register Online at Eventbrite.

Volunteers for all races are also needed and very much appreciated! A limited number of free race entries are available for those willing to volunteer for one of the events. By volunteering as a course marshal for one of the races, you may receive free entry to the event you plan on competing in.
