A family who swims together, stays together! Adult supervision of kids is important as it allows our lifeguards and aquatic safety staff to focus on the water and keeping everyone safe. Children who are 10 years of age or older and are able to swim 25 meters of the pool on their fronts without stopping may be left unattended at the Aquatic Center. Children under the age of 10 who are able to swim the 25 meters must have an adult present in the facility. All children who are unable to swim 25 meters must be accompanied by an adult within arms reach at all times. Swim pants or diapers are required for those children who are not potty trained. Swim diapers are available at the front desk.
GREEN means go safely!!
Green means you can GO safely in the lap pool without an adult. Green means you can GO safely off the diving board. Green means you can GO safely up and down the climbing wall. Keeping all children SAFE in the water has always been a top priority at our facility. As a result, we will be adding a new policy that assigns a color-coded wristband to a child based on their swimming ability. Starting in January, the Salida Hot Springs Aquatic Center will be assigning a green wristband for children who are able to swim 25 meters of the pool on their fronts without stopping. This is a great tool to help our staff identify swimmers and non-swimmers. We will be keeping a record of all our swimmers starting in January so please bear with us, as we will be testing every child again. The children who have passed the swim test will have their names recorded in the swim test binder and in the computer under their household (if one exists). We would like to use the same wristbands over and over so we will ask that you turn them in after your swim. Enjoy the water!
Use of still cameras and video cameras are strictly prohibited. Violators will be prosecuted. Locker rooms will close 15 minutes after the closure of the pool each night. Please be respectful of our staff time in completing closing procedures. And nightly custodial duties.
The diving board, slide and climbing wall will be open at the sole discretion of the head lifeguard on duty, based on the number of people in the pool, conflicting fitness classes and lessons, and staffing. Please be respectful of the decisions that are made in order to keep all patrons safe.
Soaking Pool Policies
Must be 18 and over. Elderly persons, pregnant women and those with medical conditions should consult with a physician before use. No food, alcohol, smoking, or glass containers are allowed at any time. Persons having contagious disease, open wounds, cough or colds shall not be allowed to enter. Oils, body lotions, and soaps shall not be applied while in the pools. One hour limit.
Soaking Pool Reservations
We do not require reservations, but they are recommended, especially on evenings & weekends.
Smile, you’re on camera! The City of Salida Recreation Department uses brochures, flyers, social media, and other advertisements for our programs and events. We reserve the right to use photographs, video recordings, and/or images of anyone in any activity, program, park, special event, or public place in present and/or future publications. Participants of Salida Recreation programs and events may also record program activities that are open for observation as long as it does not interfere with the instructor and participants, cause a safety concern, or infringe upon copyright laws. The individual(s) recording participants or programs must have an association with a registered participant. All other persons wanting to take photos or tape events must have prior approval from recreation staff. We reserve the right to refuse anyone the privilege of recording events.
Activity Refund Policy: A full refund, minus a $5 processing fee, will be given for any activity if the participant gives Salida Recreation at least 48 hour notice, unless otherwise noted. Partial refunds may be given for notification under 48 hours at the discretion of the Rec. Supervisor. Weather refund policy: Refunds will be given if a program is cancelled at the discretion of the Recreation Supervisor or Manager. Refunds will not be given if a program is not cancelled. General refund policy: A full refund or replacement will be given on defective items. A refund or swim coupon may be given in the event that a pool needs to be closed or the building evacuated for any reason. Passes: Refunds (or extensions) are not given for either punch passes or memberships except in a documented case of a medical circumstance. No refunds on swimsuit purchases.
Many programs such as drop-in fitness classes, Jive & Dive and Preschool Parks at the Market do not need registration. However, other classes require preregistration, allowing us to ensure proper staffing, plenty of materials, and space for everyone. In addition, if a program has very few or no participants enrolled as the program date draws near, it may be cancelled.
