Salida Recreation and the members of Friends of Loyal Duke and the Salida Dog Club are bringing back a popular event we have not seen in four years! This is a 5K Fun Run/Walk for dogs; must be attached by leash to a human. Members of Friends of Loyal Duke are making strides to renovate the structure on Tenderfoot Mountain that was originally built in 1902 and this event is to raise awareness of this Loyal Duke’s Memorial Renovation. Some of the adoptable Ark Valley Humane Society Shelter Dogs will be attending this race. Preregistration is $30 and human participant is guaranteed a t-shirt. Race day registration is $35. Check-in begins at 8am at Loyal Duke’s Dog Park, where the race will both begin and end. The event includes food, prizes and a big dog party!
Racers and handlers will meet at Loyal Duke’s Dog Park for check-in and registration beginning at 8am, then make their way up Holman Avenue for the start of the race at 9am. The 5K (3.1 mile) walk/run will start at the intersection of Holman Avenue and CR 140. From there, it will go west to CR 144, north to CR 160/Crestone Avenue, east to Grant Street, south to Poncha Boulevard, west to Holman Ave, then will finish at the dog park.
